Hej, predivna! Spremna za malo ljepote i inspiracije?
Hey gorgeous! Ready for a little beauty and inspiration?
There’s a power in asking – and we saw that firsthand a few weeks ago!
After Carly Church introduced me to the concept of an “Ask Party” – uniting your circle to help each other out with whatever they each need – I knew I had to host one of my own. So I gathered up a test group, made up of some of my nearest and dearest, and set a date!
A day before the meeting, my team and I sent out a document with everyone’s bios and contact info. Then we gathered via Zoom, and I gave everyone 90 seconds to introduce themselves and state their “ask.” We went around the crowd and shared what we each needed help with. And that’s when the magic started to happen.
Our circle had a myriad of requests, from references for potential clients to roommates for relatives. But the thing that struck me even more than these thoughtful, humble questions. Each guest brought the most amazing energy: they were all enthusiastic, thoughtful, and engaging, keeping the chat full of encouragement and suggestions. It made me so proud to stand amongst these incredible folks, whom I am so fortunate to call friends and colleagues, and so grateful to have them in my life.
This fabulous gathering reminded me of something that is often overlooked or even misunderstood, especially in the professional world: networking doesn’t have to be hollow or a chore. It can be a form of community building; in fact, I believe it can be a love language. Our Ask Party was a perfect manifestation of this: I got to connect people I care about, and who have helped me enormously, to each other, to hopefully help them. And their immediate, unwavering kindness and support of these strangers was the cherry on top. So in case you couldn’t tell, *I* had a great time!
If you know me, you know how important community is to me. And if there’s one thing I hope you take away from this, it’s not to host an Ask Party of your own (even though I hope you’ll do that too); I hope you find a method of professional community building that makes you excited. Networking can connect you to people who make your days brighter. And you never know, some day they might be able to lend a helping hand to you or another member of your circle.
However, if you ARE interested in trying out an Ask Party (or even just meeting some awesome people), mark your calendars: the next Keca’s Usna Ask Party will be on Thursday, July 30 at 11 am PST. Be sure to leave a comment on this LinkedIn post if you want to join – we’d love to have you.
Ljubav, sjaj i poljupci!
Love, shine, and kisses!
