One Human, Many Hats: The All-Encompassing Role Of An Entrepreneur

Hej, predivna! Spremna za malo ljepote i inspiracije?

Hey gorgeous! Ready for a little beauty and inspiration?

You know the phrase as well as I do: business owners are known to “wear many hats.” We have multiple roles to fulfill, and our days consist of switching between them quickly and with ease. But that is easier said than done!

Today, I want to take time to highlight just a few of the many positions founders take on. I like to think of it as a wardrobe of professional skills. And in the spirit of supporting each other, I’m going to share how I “style” each “hat” – meaning my top tips for how I stay sane with all of the back-and-forth!

  • Fancy Sunhat

    • I like to think of my role as the face of Keca’s Usna as the giant sunhat in my collection. It commands attention, invites conversation, and can be heavy! When in this mindset, I am always on and in “go” mode. After all, this is a crucial way I can connect with my current (and potential) audience.

    • How I Style It: In order to not lose sight of our core identity, I consistently check in with myself to make sure we are staying grounded in our values. Keca’s Usna was inspired by and built on strength, love, faith, and celebrating individuality; as long as these are my North Star, I know we cannot go wrong.

  • Cozy Beanie

    • If you have followed me for a while, you might remember that I spent years working in corporate HR before I launched my own business. That experience left an invaluable impression on me: a company is only as strong as its people. When your team feels heard, seen, and supported, they are free to create to their best ability.

    • How I Style It: People first, always. They are the heartbeat of any brand, but especially a small business like Keca’s Usna. Plus, trust goes both ways: I want to be comfortable delegating things to them, and they need to see me as an employer who will take care of them in return.

  • Hard Hat

    • Something that can be hard for aspiring entrepreneurs to fully grasp is how some tasks that you have absolutely no experience with will fall to you to complete. When all else fails, we as business owners are the boots on the ground, the muscle, the brains, the cleanup crew… the list goes on. That is when it is time to put on your hard hat and take care of business!

    • How I Style It: Make sure you are ready and willing to do whatever needs to get done. I don’t ask anything of my team that I wouldn’t do myself. However, to try and alleviate the pressure this can create, I also have carefully curated a team that I trust to handle my business. That way, my participation is just a backup option.

To all of my fellow business owners: I see you and your many hats. I see the late nights and early mornings, the frantic moments, and the deep commitment you pour into your work. And I applaud you for it.That adaptability and work ethic is the result of a lot of hard work and finely tuned skill. It is not easy, but it sure is impressive, worthwhile, and something to be proud of.

May this be a reminder to take the time to slow down, set all the hats aside, and focus on you as an individual, not as a professional. No one can do that many different jobs effectively without refilling their own cup. I hope you take the time to celebrate yourself and the work that you do, especially if it all feels like thankless tasks. We may be wearing many hats, but we wear them well! 😉

Ljubav, sjaj i poljupci!

Love, shine, and kisses!
