Hej, predivna! Spremna za malo ljepote i inspiracije?
Hey gorgeous! Ready for a little beauty and inspiration?
Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season, complete with lots of time with loved ones, great food, and maybe even some special gifts. Now, as we stand on the other side of the ball dropping, the inevitable question presents itself: what will you do with this new year?
New Year’s resolutions can be a great way to plan for how we want to answer this question, but can also limit any potential growth. Especially in our appearance-obsessed world, this can be a tricky time of year; there’s often pressure to completely change your looks, your habits, and your overall life to fit a social media-inspired ideal. This can lead to unrealistic – or even downright damaging – goals.
So, I want to remind you that life doesn’t hinge on a scale or the next trending workout set. This year, I hope you’ll join me in focusing on internal beauty; a 12-step skincare routine is well and good, but thoughtful intentionality does wonders for the soul. Let’s make 2026 beautiful in the way that truly matters: creating a life that you love!
Here are some of my tips for creating manageable resolutions that will make your year fun and fulfilling:
-
Start small: You don’t need to be an expert or a champion by the end of the year to have made progress! If your goal is to take up a new hobby, like knitting, aiming to consistently follow online beginner’s tutorials is much more manageable than pressuring yourself to create a complicated sweater right off the bat.
-
Be specific: I like to make my resolutions actionable steps; it helps me take initiative and gives me a clear picture of what I need to do for success. Let’s say your ambition is to spend less time on social media. Set the intention of lowering your screen time by 30% so you have a defined outcome to work towards.
-
Make it quantifiable: Similar to being explicit, adding numbers can make all the difference (as the saying goes – “fuzzy goal, fuzzy results”). For example, if you’re trying to be more active, plan on taking a specific number of walks each week. And if you’re really trying to make it fun, create a little tracking program for yourself – think of the sticker charts from elementary school!
Similarly, resolutions don’t have to be focused on improvement, they can foster enjoyment. That’s the approach I’m taking this year; overall, I’m trying to be more present in my day-to-day life and savor even the most mundane moments. Last year, I really learned to tune into and trust my intuitions, and that’s something I want to continue to strengthen going forward. I’m aiming to start and end each day with time outside (even if it’s just for a walk or a cup of coffee) to tap into the grounding power of nature. And for all the in-between moments, from quiet early mornings to doing laundry, I want to fill them with meditation and music. As Emily Dickinson once said, “Forever is composed of nows” – and I want to appreciate my “nows” to the max.
In our go-go-go culture of perfection, there’s always pressure to do more, be better, and have it all. Resolutions for the new year can often play into this. So just remember to be kind to yourself, and keep in mind that life is supposed to feel GOOD. I hope whatever objectives you’re setting are building that for you. May 2026 be the best year yet (but not the best one ever 😉)!
Ljubav, sjaj i poljupci!
Love, shine, and kisses!
